Brisbane founded, all-female string section, The String Selection, created by Saraya Beric, a 23 year old Brisbane Hip-Hop violinist, and is fast gaining a formidable reputation in the Australian music industry as being the string section with edge and style.

The group which has now expanded to include musicians from Sydney and Melbourne, performs around Australia in the corporate circuit as well as collaborating with and backing some of the country?s top musical artists including Missy Higgins, Shannon Noll, Hilltop Hoods, Phrase, MPhazes, Something With Numbers, Miller-Heidke, DJ Tydi, Resin Dogs and The Optimen. The girls have also rocked the stages at Live Earth, Big Day Out, Good Vibrations Festival, Homebake and the Woodford Folk Festival

The latest coup for The String Selection is that they have just been selected to perform with UK pop duo Goldfrapp which is an impressive gig to add to their resume as well as demonstrating that these girls have what it takes on an international level. With so many artists these days now using string sections in their live performances, The String Selection has found a niche market and are dedicating their career to bringing something innovative to Australia?s commercial music scene.

"It?s rare to get a gig like the Goldfrapp one because international touring artists usually bring their own string sections on the road with them, so when we got the call we were pretty excited and grateful to have been given the opportunity. I developed the business to be able to cater for smaller, emerging artists right up to larger acts it gives us more scope within the industry and enables us to build The String Selection brand" says Miss. Beric.

The String Selection comprises of the finest, young string players in the country, all with classical training from Australia?s top music institutions such as the Sydney Conservatorium, the Queensland Conservatorium and the National Academy of Music. They also hold several years experience each in orchestral and ensemble playing, international touring, and studio recording which have also included soundtracks for Hollywood and Sundance feature films.

The String Selection also at present has two corporate shows that have entertained clients such as Ford, Sofitel, Dick Smith & Hamilton Island. Both shows are quite unique to the corporate entertainment circuit as well as being unique to each other. The first show was created by Miss. Beric and former Brisbane percussionist, Daniel Luscombe as a percussion and string spectacular The second is a solo act, ?The String Selection Show,? which was written by Miss. Beric and Helena Redmond, The String Selection?s cellist this show is string section meets hip-hop and electro genres. The girls are certainly dedicated to their craft and show their talents in writing music as well as performing.
