Returning to our shores this week to perform at St Jerome's Laneway Festival and headline dates in Melbourne and Sydney, TOKiMONSTA aka Jennifer Lee has revealed the powerful video for her new single I Wish I Could feat. Selah Sue featured on her new album Lune Rouge.
The prolific LA producer will bring her thrilling live show to Manning Bar in Sydney on Thursday 8th February and Max Watt's in Melbourne on Friday 9th February. TOKiMONSTA will be joined by special guests Diola, Jade Le Flay and Milan in Sydney and Jordan Dennis, Ojikae and Jade Zoe in Melbourne.
Directed by Mitchell deQuilettes (Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean, Flume) and premiered via Pitchfork, the compelling visuals for I Wish I Could feat. Selah Sue is a tale of redemption that brings awareness to the current hospital and medical culture. "It means a lot to me to finally put visuals to a song that is so significant to me. After undergoing two brain surgeries and being unable to create, this song was the very first song I was able to complete upon my recovery," says Lee.
Following an extensive four month worldwide tour including sets at Reading & Leeds and Sunny Side Up, the revered music trendsetter and dance world entrepreneur has recently also commenced a coveted residency at BBC Radio 1.
Lee's work as TOKIMONSTA gained widespread recognition from the very start with her debut album Midnight Menu released on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder imprint and cemented her reputation as a formidable presence of the then-emerging West Coast beat scene. She quickly became a festival mainstay with performances at Coachella, Panorama, Moog Fest, Time Festival, Roskilde and Beyond the Valley to name a few and gaining critical acclaim along the way.
Lune Rouge is TOKiMONSTA's third full-length album is an eclectic collection of moonlit music featuring the singles We Love feat. MNDR and Don't Call Me feat. Yuna, in addition to a handpicked list of carefully curated collaborators including Joey Purp, Isaiah Rashad, Ambré, IO Echo and more.
