The Whales Are Waiting For You

The Whales Are Waiting For You

May 1 is the official launch of the 2019 whale-watching season and it will soon be time to book your front-row-seat on a whale-watching cruise off Sydney Harbour.

Each year, FantaSea's Sydney Whale Watching Cruises provide a unique experience for tens of thousands of Sydneysiders and tourists as migrating whales find their way to warmer waters off the east coast.

This season, due to stronger population growth, Humpback whales are expected to steal the show! Hosted by expert marine biologists, each tour on the newest, largest and most comfortable catamaran on Sydney Harbour has an onboard hydrophone for passengers to hear, as well as see, migrating whales off Sydney's Harbour. Each cruise has a limited number of seats to ensure every passenger has a front-row seat to witness the tail–and-fin slapping Humpback whales putting on quite a show.

Prices start on this ultimate cruise at $59 for children and $99 for adults, with packages available for families and groups. Included in the ticket price is a complementary snack, hot and cold beverages as well as a selection of premium wine, beer and champagne all on-board their licenced bar. There is also a whale watching guarantee, so if no whales are spotted during the cruise, passengers have the opportunity to come back again at no extra cost.

The Cruises run 7 days a week from May 18 until the whales have finished their journey past the coast, usually in late October to early November – we let them decide! Vessels depart from King Street Wharf 9 for a 3-hour cruise at 1pm daily and from Circular Quay East Pontoon for a 2.5-hour cruise at 1.30pm. On weekends (Friday to Sunday) there is an additional departure at 9am from King Street Wharf (9.30am from Circular Quay East Pontoon).
