The funds raised from the sale of the Bakers Oven Raspberry Lamington Fingers will go towards the placement of McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right around Australia and increasing breast awareness in younger women. There are currently 55 McGrath Breast Care Nurses located in areas as far reaching as Hervey Bay (QLD), Geraldton (WA), Armidale (NSW), Warrnambool (VIC) and Whyalla (SA), providing an invaluable health resource and support for Australian families experiencing breast cancer.

In its 29th year, the Cole Classic is Australia's largest ocean swim, with more than 4,500 people gathering in Manly to take part annually.

After the success of the inaugural Sun Run, Sydney's new summer fun run is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants in its second year. It will showcase the best of Sydney's Northern Beaches with a spectacular course from Dee Why to Manly.
Starting at 6.45am, the Sun Run will begin at The Strand in Dee Why and finish on The Steyne at iconic Manly Beach with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal.
Runners, joggers, wheelchairs, pushers and walkers are all encouraged to take up the challenge of the Sun Run.

Cancer Council Australia has launched its annual SunSmart competition for teens, calling on all Aussie kids aged 12 to 17 years to get creative showing off their original skin.
To go in the running for some great prizes Cancer Council Australia is asking teens to create a short film, image or creative writing piece that shows why untanned skin is in this summer.
Original Skin competition prizes include:
First Prize: Slazenger sports packs valued at $520 each
Second Prize: iLuv Audio Cube iPad Speaker Docks, also compatible with iPhone and iPod valued at $180 each
Third Prize: Moosehead urban hair packs valued at $65 each

February the 15th is International Childhood Cancer Day and this year Cure Our Kids, the non-profit charity dedicated to the cancer unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, is urging Australians to dig deep and help support this important cause.
Cure Our Kids will be selling branded gold ribbons specifically in an effort to raise funds towards their vital work. Established in 2001, the charity provides an array of services to improve quality of life for children undergoing treatment, and the families who battle alongside them. The charity maintains that medical treatment is only half the solution when it comes to childhood cancer, and their services seek to address the often overlooked aspects of a childhood cancer diagnosis - providing emotional support, promoting psychological wellbeing and offering financial assistance to help families pull through. |
