July 18 marks the start date for this year's Gutsy Challenge when students across the country will be eating fruit and vegetables to raise money for Gastro-Intestinal cancer research.
Last year 50,000 pieces of fruit and vegetables were eaten by the Challengers and this year, the GI CANCER Institute is aiming to beat this record by expanding participation to students from high schools and swimming schools too.
The Gutsy Challenge is a schools-based program encouraging students to get sponsored to eat two pieces of fruit and four vegetables each day for a whole week in Term 3, and to raise money for digestive cancer research. |

The most novel and colourful event on the calendar for the past 26 years, the NSW Variety Bash is set to make its departure from Sydney again on August 6th, 2011.
Given that since its inception in 1985, it has been tradition for the Bash to start and finish at a destination starting with the letter B, this year the Variety Bash will leave from Totally Home Bella Vista in Baulkham Hills at 8:30am on Saturday August 6th and finish at Buccaneer Rock (Broome, WA) on August 17th, travelling 5,423 kilometres and detouring through some of NSW most remote regions including Inverell, even crossing the border into Longreach and Mt Isa and travelling through the Northern Territory before completing the 11 day journey to the most westerly point of Australia. Since the first Bash the event has raised in excess of $109 million for kids in need.

Spring 30 Days of Feel Good Fitness will launch nationwide. Spring is an initiative to get people moving, demonstrate the impact exercise has on their mood and raise over $500,000 for the Black Dog Institute. All you have to do is sign up, do 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days during the month of September and pay just $30 for the Spring online fitness program personalised to beginners, intermediate or advanced participants. All money raised will go directly to the Black Dog Institute to help research and treat depression.
Everyone that participates in the Spring 30 Days of Feel Good Fitness receives: 1. A 30 minute exercise plan each day by email for the month of September. Plans include strength, fitness, circuits, yoga and core. 2. A feel-good recipe each week. 3. The knowledge that they are supporting a fantastic cause.

Variety the children's charity is encouraging friends, families and work colleagues from North West Sydney to enjoy a special luncheon at the popular local restaurant, The Mean Fiddler on Thursday September 8th, 2011 for the second annual Dine for Kids event.
Guests can look forward to a scrumptious two course meal, designed exclusively for the event by acclaimed chef Peter Andrews, while being entertained by a couple of surprise special performances. Tickets are $95 per person.

According to a 14 year study published in The New England Journal of Medicine coffee drinkers have been found to live longer than those who choose to be non coffee drinker. Coffee drinkers were also less likely to die from heart disease, respiratory disease, stroke, injuries and diabetes. |
