Buonissimo!
Following on from the success of his award-winning debut Fantastico! comes Buonissimo!, Gino D'Acampo's eagerly awaited second collection of modern Italian recipes. Sexy, simple and satisfying, these dishes demonstrate that you don't have to spend hours in the kitchen in order to prepare good food. Food should be about fun and fresh flavours where the ingredients do the work for you!
Starting with Gino's two main rules: always use a sharp knife and never put garlic and onion together, Buonissimo! sets out to make food for the people. Divided into five chapters, there's a dish for everyone, whether you're cooking for one, entertaining or wanting something comforting after a busy day. The chapter 'Romantico' demonstrates what every Italian does best, combing food and love to create perfect dishes for two, including salmon and creamy leek parcels and hot chocolate fondants stuffed with chocolate truffles. In 'Facile Facile' Gino offers his tricks of the trade on dishes that takes hardly any time to make but will certainly impress, such as sea bass Carpaccio with chilli and cherry tomatoes and pasta with walnut and caper pesto. In 'Salute; he takes inspiration from the family gatherings of his childhood to offer ideas for food to share with friends and family, be it brunch, a barbecue, dinner or a party. The recipes in 'Per Tutti I Giorni' are easy weekend suppers, which include Gino's favourite pasta dishes and the wonderful Italian toad in the hole, while 'Per Me' offers tempting recipes for when it's just you, including ideas for meals to make in batches.
From artichoke and spinach tart to Neapolitan spicy meatballs, followed by limoncella and lime granite, this is fresh, exciting Italian cooking at its best. With Gino's easy approach that has won him so many fans Buonissimo! will allow you to enjoy your cooking as much as the results. As Gino always says, 'minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. Buonissimo!
