Green Tea: The Perfect Summertime Refreshment

Tea-lovers looking for different ways to enjoy their green tea this summer will be inspired by Dilmah's fresh and healthy range of ethically produced green teas. With its natural healing benefits, rich antioxidant content and great taste variations, green tea –both hot and cold – has been one of the most widely consumed teas in the world for over 4000 years.

Dilmah's quality Green Tea range is 100% natural with four delicious variations to choose from; Pure Green Tea, Green Tea with Lemongrass and Lemon, Green Tea with Jasmine Petals and Green tea with Moroccan Mint. While Green tea is already very low in caffeine, for those who would prefer to avoid it all together, Dilmah also offers a fully decaffeinated green tea.

Using the highest quality single origin Ceylon green tea leaves, there are great ways to enjoy green tea hot or chilled throughout summer, soaking up the great flavors and brilliant health benefits.

By continuously developing new and innovative seasonal tea blends that taste great, Dilmah allows tea lovers to take advantage of tea health benefits all year round. Dilhan C. Fernando, son of Dilmah founder Merrill J. Fernando comments, 'Our pure Ceylon green teas are unique in the way we infuse and blend them with high quality ingredients to ensure our loyal customers enjoy a refreshing and authentic taste. This summer we are enjoying our whole range of green teas both hot and cold as refreshing iced tea or in mocktail's and cocktails.

Green tea and black tea are both great for your overall health as they are both derived from the same tea plant, the Camellia Sinensis. The difference is simply in the processing – Black tea is fermented, turning it dark in colour while green Tea is unfermented and is steamed instead, keeping it light in colour with a soothing, fresh taste.

By not being fermented, green tea has a great advantage of being able to retain a very high antioxidant level, particularly the super antioxidant EGCG. There is strong evidence that because of this antioxidant, green tea has the potential to fight cancer by protecting cells from harmful free radicals, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and even killing cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.
