New Book Shows You How To Make Time For Self-Care

A recent Stress and Wellbeing survey conducted by The Australian Psychological Society (APS) * found that one in four Australians are stressed and anxious. The report also found that younger people (18- 25) have consistently reported lower levels of wellbeing than older Australians.

Jessica Sanders, best-selling author of Love Your Body has put together this new book, Me Time to help us look after our most important friend - ourselves! It might sound strange, but it's true: sometimes we all need a gentle reminder to take care of ourselves. Jessica is dedicated to empowering others with the tools they need to strengthen the relationship they hold with themselves and their bodies and she regularly gives talks in Australian Primary and High Schools on the topics of body image, self-care and self-love.

It wasn't until about three months into Jessica's first social work role, that she found herself suffering from vicarious trauma and realised self-care wasn't an indulgence, it was essential.

"I can't remember the first time I learned of the term 'self-care' but I do remember that I originally associated it with indulgence, bubble baths, facemasks and wine! My experience forced me to make some tough decisions, ask for help, and prioritise my needs before anything else. All of this was self-care…it just wasn't the kind I'd been sold," explains Jessica.

Me Time is your wise, sensible friend with all the insights, facts, inspiring quotes, wisdom and ideas to get you reflecting on your self-care. It is also filled with evidence-based activities to support a young person in developing healthy coping mechanisms to manage stress.

"I personally wish I had owned something like this when I was younger. I always felt too guilty to take breaks from my homework and the result was increased stress and reduced productivity. Self-care is a skill a young person will use throughout their whole lives," says Jessica.

Me Time explores unique ways to care for our physical, mental, spiritual and future selves and delves further into the world of self-care and self- acceptance, for women of all ages.

From one-minute activities to day-long adventures, this book shows you how to make time for self-care.
