The Wedding Forcast by Nina Kenwood

The Wedding Forcast by Nina Kenwood

The Wedding Forecast breathes fresh life into the impossible-lovers trope with adorable characters, warmth, wit and brilliant dialogue.

Anna was never going to have an easy time at her best friend's wedding. She's the maid of honour; her ex, Joel, is a groomsman and he's bringing his new partner, Bianca.

Anna has just turned thirty and her life is not exactly where she thought it would be by now. But she has all her feelings completely under control"right up until the moment Joel drops a bombshell that rocks her to her core.

She needs a distraction, and Patrick, the wedding photographer, just might be the solution. But the arrival of Mac, a not-quite-famous actor who has flown in from New York, complicates everything.

Laugh-out-loud funny with chemistry that jumps off the page, The Wedding Forecast will be the feel-good romcom of the summer.

Nina Kenwood won the Text Prize for her debut YA novel, It Sounded Better in My Head, which went on to be published in six languages, was a finalist for the American Library Association's William C. Morris Award, as well as being shortlisted for several Australian awards. Her second book, Unnecessary Drama, continued her success both in Australia and overseas. The Wedding Forecast is Nina's first novel for adults.

'This book had me in turns doubled over with laughter, flushing with second-hand embarrassment, and gasping with delight…Fun and deeply enjoyable.' ArtsHub on Unnecessary Drama

How has your writing changed from when you began your career to now?
Nina Kenwood I know how to hold my nerve through the early drafts now. I used to let my negative self-talk take over, and that's the death knell for any book. Writing a book is ultimately an exercise in optimism, a belief that what you are working on is worthwhile, which can be very hard…Now I have learned the skill of shaping a bad draft into a good one, and I know how to reassure myself 'you can make this funny later'!
What inspired you to write The Wedding Forecast

Nina Kenwood I went to a wedding where the rings were brought down the aisle by a (very uncooperative) cat, another where a groomsman dramatically fainted during the vows. I have witnessed many speeches that veered into inappropriate or awkward territory, and I have seen exes awkwardly enduring being in a bridal party together and divorced parents forced to make small talk over canapes…
