As an avid PINK fan (NO not the colour, but the performer herself!), I enthusiastically jumped at the chance to learn all I could about this successful recording artist. Inspiring many young people around the world to accept who they are as a person, PINK is well and truly making her mark on the often tough and competitive music industry, in leaps and bounds.

Alecia Moore a.k.a. PINK, is one of the HOTTEST new faces and talents to emerge on the ever-growing R&B music scene and is attracting quite a lot of attention. A self-assured young woman, she has created and mastered a sound that is quite unique while her powerful lyrics push boundaries.

PINK'S latest offering is the smash hit "Lady Marmalade" recorded for the soundtrack to the highly successful film "Moulin Rouge". It also features the vocals of Mya, Christina Aguilera and Lil' Kim.

In a scene that is largely dominated by male artists, PINK has proven that she has what it takes to make her mark on the R&B charts and give the boys a run for their money. A Platinum-selling R&B artist, PINK has released three hot singles "There You Go", "Most Girls" and "You Make Me Sick", lifted off her brilliant debut album titled "Can't Take Me Home". Many of the songs on her debut album were penned by herself and produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid, the highly respected dynamic duo behind many other well known artists.

Currently in the studio, she is writing and recording material for her second album, which is due for release later this year. I, like many other PINK fans, am really looking forward to this album and anticipate it is going to sound fabulously fresh and push those boundaries even further!

PINK's songs have a particular personality reflecting relationships she has experienced, things she has encountered and even the things she is embarrassed about. Her music indicates that behind that striking pink hair lies a strong woman with a lot of lessons to teach and even more to learn.

PINK's singing career began at the age of fourteen when she joined an all-boy punk band! After a DJ heard her amazing vocal range, she was given a weekly gig at a hip-hop club, aged fifteen. PINK went on to sing in a number of other acts ranging from hip-hop, rock, R&B and even tried her hand at singing gospel before getting signed by La Face Records at the age of sixteen.

PINK's musical influences include Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Green Day and pop divas Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Madonna. With such a diverse list of influences, her ambition was to create a distinct sound of her own, one she has managed to achieve so far.

PINK's next ambition is to work and record with some of her idols including Steve Tyler, Stevie Nicks, bad-boy Eminem, Lauryn Hill and the original material girl - Madonna.

So where did she inherit the cool nickname PINK? This has been her nickname since childhood when in a bizarre incident, a boy pulled her pants down sending PINK...well, bright Pink! It is a nickname she has never been able to live down.

With her talented songwriting skills and incredible vocal range, I definitely get the feeling that big things are in store for PINK and that we have only seen a glimpse of what this young lady is musically capable of!
