SKUNKHOUR ANNOUNCE THEY ARE BREAKING UP
Aya, Michael, Dean, Warwick and Paul from SKUNKHOUR officially announced today that the band is break up at the end of 2001. It is stressed that it is an amicable split and that all members of the band wish each other well as they pursue new musical projects.

"It's time to close one door and open others. After a nine and a half years of what we feel is a truly original path in making Australian music, some frustration, and many great shows, we're going out with a Big Goodbye".

From nightclubs to festivals to beer barns to universities, SKUNKHOUR have taken their international style of funk fused with rap, pop and rock influences to create a joyful powerful musical and lyrical experience over 4 albums and more than 1200 shows in Australia, Europe and Japan.

The break up comes on the heels of a highly successful national tour this spring, pulling bigger crowds than ever before in many cities and regional areas. The tour was presented by JJJ, a great supporter of the band.

So the band has decided to go out doing what they do best. A series of live shows around the country to say farewell to the fans and thousands of people who have come along to the shows over the last nine years. The tour is titled "The Big Goodbye" and will feature a retrospective show, a show full of all the hits, favourites and many songs you won't have heard in years.

"We're closing a chapter with an album we feel has connected. It will be a lot of fun playing all our best material from the four albums in some big shows, it's a great way to farewell it."
