Good Eating Tips

Good Eating Tips
Want to be healthier? Want to make sure you arm yourself with "know-how" on how to help your body feel at it's best? Well here is some advice on eating habits you may want to include in your life....

Drink Water...and plenty of it!

Yes I know you have probably heard this before, but it really is so important. Many times when you think you feel hungry it is often because you are thirsty.SO next time you think "Mmm, a bag of chips would be great", or you reach for that choccie bar, ask yourself "Am I thirsty?". Or even get into the habit of drinking a glass of filtered water (or tap water) before you eat and see what a difference this makes. It really can help you to stop bingeing on food or eating just for the sake of eating.
Also keeping your body hydrated can help in many other areas as well, as your body is made up of a large percentage of water. SO drinking water helps to promote clear skin, healthy organs, a controlled appetite and a healthy body.
Drink up..6-8 glasses a day, or at least 1-2 litres...and more if you exercise regularly.

FRUIT LOOP

Another great eating tip I am sure you have read about or heard before...eat lots of fruit and "have an apple a day". Well this is so true. Fruit is jam packed full of vitamins and minerals. And of course, so are vegetables. The other great thing about fruit, is now that we are heading into the spring & summer months, the variety available is far more widespread and the flavours are sensational! Bananas, apples, honeydew melon, rockmelon, watermelon, apricots, peaches...just to name a few! Fruit is also full of fibre, antioxidants and other disease fighting enzymes. A great in-between meal snack and a healthy way to boost your blood sugar (instead of having a lollie fest) fruit really is a fantastic gift from Mother Nature.

So tuck in, eat up and ask your parents (if you are not the one buying it) to make sure they check out all the great fruit around and stack it in the shopping trolley.

EAT BREAKFAST

Heard this one too? I bet. Well not only have scientists proven that those who eat a breakfast have better stamina throughout the day, are able to concentrate better and also are more likely to remember what they learn but breakfast also promotes a healthier brain, body and general feeling of well being and state of mind. I used to hate eating breakfast as a child and as a teenager but I realised when I did find something I liked to eat, I noticed a change in how I felt at school and how I could concentrate more clearly at school. SO give it a go! If you genuinely don't like a type of breakfast cereal, or do not enjoy toast, try to find something you can handle. Often it is breaking the habit of not eating or running late so never finding the time. But try. I believe you will feel better for it.
