Vaalia - Apple & Cinnamon

Vaalia - Apple & Cinnamon
Vaalia, Australia's most favoured probiotic yoghurt, not only tastes brilliant, but has the added health benefit of being low GI!

The Glycaemic Index (GI) ranks foods based on their immediate effect on blood sugar levels. It measures how much your blood sugar increases over a period of two or three hours after a meal. Each food is measured on a score out of 100, with 100 being pure Glucose.

Low GI foods are preferable for those people who are concerned about blood sugar levels and for people trying to lose weight. Low GI foods are also more sustaining, helping with hunger pangs for those trying to lose weight because they are more slowly digested. Any food with a GI rating of less than 55 is considered a "Low GI" food.

High GI foods are carbohydrate foods that break down quickly during digestion, and cause the blood sugar level to rise and fall more rapidly. Some examples of high GI foods are white bread (70), watermelon (72) and Jelly Beans (80). The higher the score, the more quickly blood sugar levels will rise.

Vaalia yoghurt is an excellent low GI food with all varieties boasting a rating of less than 43 and some as low as 26.
